ATTENTION WESTERN DRESSAGE RIDERS OF CANADA!

After much discussion, the NDPC has decided to offer Year-End Awards for Western Dressage riders IN CANADA
for this competition season as a trial run before rolling it out across the entire United States NEXT YEAR.

HOW IT WORKS

Ponies and small horses will not be separated.

All animals must be under 163cm with shoes and under 162cm barefoot. If we don’t have a measurement on file, ponies and small horses can be measured by a vet using our Small Horse Measurement Form. Ponies measured this way can only use these measurements for the NDPC Western Dressage Year-End Awards. Horses over the height requirement are not eligible for these awards.

Western Dressage Memberships will be separate from the Classical Dressage Memberships. If you do both, you will need a full price membership for each.

Riders are put into 4 separate divisions. Open, Adult Amateur, Young rider (17-21), and Junior (16 and under). The NDPC uses the age as of December 1st of the competition year.

The NDPC competition season begins November 1st and concludes on October 31st annually, and membership must be renewed each year to remain valid.

Riders can become members at any time during the competition season before Midnight EST on October 31st. Scores for Year-End Awards will be retroactively counted back to the beginning of the season.

Scores from each level, from any Equestrian Canada Gold, Silver, or Bronze sanctioned show, will count toward Year-End Awards. We pull scores from Equestrian Canada for Gold and Silver shows and Equestrian Canada, Competeasy, and Foxvillage websites for Bronze Level Shows. If your Bronze Level results are not on one of these 3 sites, please send a copy of your test showing the date, test, score, and judges signature to karen@dressageponycup.com. It is the responsibility of the rider to make sure all scores are entered before midnight EST on October 31st. Scores from schooling shows, even if they are Partner Shows, are not eligible. A minimum of 2 scores are required per level. If you only have one score at a level, you will be greyed out in the standings, and your score will be in yellow. Equitation classes are not eligible for Year-End Awards.

Owners, trainers, and coaches do not have to be members. Each rider must be registered with each animal for scores to be collected for Year-End Awards. JR/YR memberships are half price ($30) for the 2026 season. Additional equines can be added to a Rider’s membership for $30 per animal. Another person cannot do the additional $30 membership if they are riding the same horse as another member. Each rider must be registered separately for their scores to be counted.

Those that don’t have a previous measurement on file with the NDPC, must provide one by Midnight EST on October 31st for the NDPC to officially count scores toward the Year-End Awards. Please email measurement forms to karen@dressageponycup.com.

If you are viewing the monthly Year-End Standings and you see that your name is greyed-out and the placing number skips you, it means we could not verify your measurement at the time of the standings.

Scores beginning at Intro 4 will have degree of difficulty points added per test, then all the tests of the level will be averaged to get the final score. See DOD chart below.

Year-End Awards are given through 8th place and will be mailed to the address given in the membership sign up.
